Chapter 1: How You Approach Life and How You Appear To Others

Virgo Rising:

Modest, unobtrusive, and often rather quiet or shy, you are a person who is content to be in the background or to serve as an assistant, in the supporting role rather than in the lead. You are quite humble in your own assessment of yourself and you have a very strong perfectionistic attitude, with a tendency to be overly self-critical. No matter how well you do something, you always see the flaws in it and how it could be improved. Often you will simply refuse to attempt something because you feel you cannot meet your own high standards.

You have an eye for detail and get upset when something is not done just so, usually something others consider rather inconsequential or trivial. You are hard to please and your relationships with others may suffer because of this. You also have refined sensitivities and are very discriminating and particular in your choice of foods, clothes, friends, artwork, etc. Order in your environment is very important to you.

You step into situations rather cautiously, and not without realistically assessing all of the risks and potential advantages involved. Unless something is a safe bet, you are unlikely to dive into it. You tend to underestimate your own capacities and to lack confidence and trust in life, which inhibits your spontaneity. Worrying is a bad habit of yours. On the other hand, you rarely fall flat on your face and what you do, you do very well.

Others see you as a self-sufficient and rather self-contained person. You have a strong sense of propriety. Politeness, good manners, and correct behavior are important to you. Your clear, cool, objective and nonemotional attitude is apparent to others first, and though you are really quite helpful and caring, you do not radiate much sympathy so that others may not see the helpful side as readily. You may seem more businesslike and factual, and also more conservative, than you really are at heart. You are the person others might go to for technical advice or an unbiased opinion, but not for emotional support.

You are keenly observant, intelligent, and have a great desire for learning and for self-improvement, but you are not especially ambitious and are often satisfied in a rather simple, unglamorous position in life.

Chapter 2: The Inner You: Your Real Motivation

Sun in Pisces:

At heart you are very gentle, impressionable, and receptive – a dreamer. The world of your imagination, feelings, and intuition is as real to you as anything in the outer world, though you may have trouble verbalizing or interpreting your inner experiences in a way others can understand. Mystical, artistic, musical, emotional and imaginative, you have a rich inner life, though you may seem rather unobtrusive and quiet outwardly. You usually keep to yourself.

You have great sensitivity and empathy with others, and you often sense things psychically or intuitively which prove to be correct. You are tolerant, forgiving, and nonjudgmental, accepting people unconditionally regardless of their flaws, mistakes, or outward appearance. You have deep compassion for the suffering of any fellow creature and often feel others’ pain as if it were your own. You sympathize with the needy, the disadvantaged, the misfits of society. You are capable of giving selflessly, living a life of devoted and compassionate service to others, as a healer, physician, social worker, or minister. However, you tend to give indiscriminately, to let others take advantage of your kindness, and to encourage the weak to remain so by becoming dependent upon you. You have little sense of boundaries, of limits, of knowing when to say “no”. Moderation and self-discipline are not your strong points.

You are a lover and a peace-maker rather than a fighter, and you try to avoid open conflict. You will patiently ignore or “tune out” problems and hope they will go away by themselves, rather than directly confronting them, and you tend to lack the positive fighting spirit that is sometimes necessary to overcome challenges. You are fluid, open, nonresistant, and somewhat passive. You do things in a subtle, often covert, manner.

Your gifts may also lie in the realm of the creative, artistic, or musical, for you have a great sensitivity, inspiration, and limitless imagination. You respond very strongly to beauty and to love.

Your faults include a tendency to be lazy and negligent, and to wallow in self-pity rather than taking strong, definite action to change your life for the better. You also tend to become so detached from your immediate environment that you live in a disorderly, chaotic sort of hodgepodge, though this probably bothers those around you more than it bothers you.

Sun in 6th house:

Your energies are directed to either perfecting your techniques, skills, and abilities in work, or in “perfecting”, refining, and improving yourself as a person. Critical analysis and attention to minute detail are intrinsic in either process. The urge to bring about a state of wholeness or optimal functioning is a strong motivation of yours, and you are quite a perfectionist!

You can easily become overly identified or involved with the function you perform, with your work, or with your own health and “growth process”.

Chapter 3: Mental Interests and Abilities

Mercury in Aquarius:

You are a progressive thinker, open and receptive to new technologies and breakthroughs in science, and the latest discoveries in any field. You have high expectations and a deep belief that mankind’s problems can be solved through the use of our creative intelligence and inventive mind. You have no patience for those whose conservative, unimaginative outlook limits their capacity to find solutions and envision a better future. You also like to keep abreast of current developments in world affairs, for you instinctively know that what happens in one part of the world affects everyone. You have a strong humanitarian impulse. Practically speaking, you have an aptitude for organization and enjoy being involved in cooperative endeavors or businesses that are contemporary and innovative.

Mercury in 5th house:

You enjoy puzzles and other games that challenge you intellectually. You like to show off your verbal or intellectual skills and to use your mind creatively. Writing, dramatic speaking or some other display of your creative intelligence appeals to you.

Chapter 4: Emotions: Moods, Feelings, Romance

Moon in Aries:

Emotional outbursts are frequent with you due to your fiery temper and emotional impulsiveness. You express yourself very directly and honestly and no one has to guess what your true feelings are. However, you dislike showing any personal weaknesses or needs for support, comfort, and nurturing. You are often impatient with yourself and with others. You abhor emotional dependency and dislike “complainers”.

You inspire others to take positive action in their lives by your own enthusiasm and eagerness to meet life’s challenges, and are attracted to people who are adventurous, courageous, and independent. You are rather bossy, but you do not like to be with people that you can boss around too much. You enjoy a good fight sometimes. Relationships built upon mutual respect and a good deal of emotional freedom are ideal for you.

You become very cross if you do not have enough vigorous physical activity. You will feel your best if you “do battle” on the tennis or racquetball court (or engage in some other competitive sport) frequently.

Moon in 7th house:

You depend a great deal upon other people for emotional support and you have a large “family” of friends that care about you and treat you as kin. The women in your life are particularly important to you, and your relationship with them powerfully influences your sense of security and happiness. You may be overly dependent and unsure of yourself without a close partner.

Venus in Capricorn:

You are definitely not one to wear your heart on your sleeve. You care very much about others’ opinions and crave love and appreciation as much as anyone, but one would never know it from your reserved and seemingly detached appearance. Casual, superficial relationships don’t interest you at all. You are cautious and serious about love and really desire a deep, genuine, lasting love. You are old-fashioned about courtship and love, and will remain faithful to your loved one in good times and in bad.

You may be attracted to persons older than yourself, someone who is emotionally mature and reliable and who can provide the security you desire.

Venus in 4th house:

A warm, loving, and comfortable home is very important to you and you invest a lot of your energy into beautifying, decorating, and creating a lovely home. Also, you share your affection with the people in your family very generously and having close family ties is a major priority for you. Being at home makes you happy.

Venus Opposition Jupiter:

You share freely whatever you have, and your friends know they can always count on your generosity and support, both emotional and material. Your good-hearted acceptance and tolerance of others’ foibles goes a long way in maintaining harmony in your relationships. You also have a lazy streak and sometimes avoid confronting difficult issues in relationships simply because it seems like too much trouble and too petty. You like to socialize and will use any excuse to celebrate with friends. You cannot tolerate too much restriction by your love partner, and encourage your partner’s freedom as well.

Venus Opposition Uranus:

Your love feelings are easily aroused and your romantic relationships begin with a sudden electric attraction, but they often end abruptly, and you may be in and out of love frequently – especially in your younger years. You crave emotional excitement and need to feel spontaneous and free, so you may avoid making firm personal commitments. Unusual or nontraditional forms of love and relationships appeal to you, and you are attracted to unique, creative, or unstable people.

Venus Sextile Saturn:

Loyalty, fidelity, and security are very important to you in love. You are cautious about giving your heart away but true to the one who does win your love. Your tastes are simple, even austere, and you do not appreciate frivolity. You are interested in a person’s character and inner qualities far more than their appearance. Casual or superficial relationships don’t interest you at all, for love seems to get deeper and richer and more satisfying for you with time.

Chapter 5: Drive and Ambition: How You Achieve Your Goals

Mars in Aries:

You have a warrior’s attitude – decisive, courageous, and bold. You tend to always want to DO something, even when waiting for an appropriate time or not doing something (simply letting things alone to resolve themselves) would actually be more efficient and effective. You absolutely cannot tolerate being passive or even patient about getting what you want. You feel that it is up to you to take the initiative and you go after your goal or desire very aggressively.

You are also self-reliant, do not depend on others to do things for you or help you along, and you are often irritated when other people offer advice or direction. Cooperation rarely comes easily to you. You are willful and can be quite oblivious to others’ desires or feelings when you are pursuing something you want. You are highly competitive, enjoy a challenge or a good fight, and may be downright pugnacious at times. Abounding in energy and enthusiasm at the start of a new venture, you need a very positive response and encouragement to sustain your interest in it. If a project isn’t successful rather quickly, you are apt to drop it and move on to something else, rather than rework or refine it. The desire to blaze a trail, to do things in a new way – YOUR way – is very strong in you. You can discover, invent, and initiate new things, but are impatient and may lack the stamina and perseverance needed to complete a long-term project.

Mars in 8th house:

You meet numerous challenges and possibly defeats in pursuit of your goals and desires, and your setbacks often occur because you’ve been too rash or intent on working your own will regardless of the impact on others. You are intense and passionate, and simply don’t know when to stop sometimes! Recklessness with others can be a problem for you.

Mars Opposition Neptune:

Ordinary life often seems drab and uninteresting to you and you must have something that stirs your imagination, some vision or ideal or dream to motivate you. You have a strong urge to act out your fantasies or to live your dream, and you will DO things that others only talk about or dream about. Artistic creation, drama, or other areas in which you can express yourself imaginatively are excellent for you.

Work that serves only your own narrow personal interests does not satisfy you. You may lack the competitive edge, the fighting spirit, the me-first attitude that is often required for material advancement and success. You also tend to either overestimate or underestimate your own power and abilities.

Mars Square Uranus:

Intensely restless, dynamic, and energetic, you are always on the go. When you want something, you want it NOW, and you act decisively, impulsively, sometimes hastily and prematurely. Impatient, high-strung, and often nervous and tense, you find it difficult to slow down, pace yourself, or relax. You are fiercely individualistic and independent, self-willed and intolerant of restraints and restrictions imposed by others. You have a reckless disregard for authority and can be extremely rebellious. Cooperating with others is not your strong point! You are often brutally frank and abrupt with people, and can be quite impersonal when you are pursuing a desired goal. You may have an explosive temper when your will is blocked. You have a superabundance of energy and need much personal freedom to do things in your own style and at your own pace.

Mars Trine Pluto:

You have a strong sense of mission and you instinctively know that to achieve anything great, one must eliminate superfluous activities, and give oneself wholly to the goal one wishes to accomplish. Your zeal, enthusiasm, and clarity of purpose enable you to succeed and to achieve whatever you aim for. You have a strong will, but you are usually quiet and understated about it.

Chapter 6: Other Influences

Jupiter in Cancer:

You make others feel accepted and comfortable. You have a knack for breaking down feelings of alienation and you make others feel included and a part of group activities. You have a loving, protective side that wants to take care of everyone. Creating a supportive atmosphere that is nourishing both to yourself and to others is one of your strengths.

Also, your home and heritage are important to you, and you maintain close connections to your past.

Jupiter in 10th house:

Your career or contribution to the world at large is likely to touch many people’s lives in a very positive, helpful way. You aim high and have an innate confidence and trust both in your own abilities and in life in general, which enables you to go far. You want to do something BIG with your life, and you attract the support you need to do so, for your aims are not solely for your own personal benefit. You want to give something back to the world, or to improve others’ lives as well as your own.

Jupiter Conjunct Uranus:

You are very enthusiastic and high-spirited. You inject a positive, optimistic note into any endeavor, and others enjoy your fun-loving and enterprising attitude.

Jupiter Trine Saturn:

You have a good balance between idealism, optimism, and vision for the future on one hand and a realistic sense of what can actually be achieved on the other hand. Your judgment and business sense are usually quite good. You possess patience and the ability to accept limitation and frustration on the way to your goals.

Older, more experienced individuals or mentors are likely to play a significant and beneficial role in your life.

Saturn in Scorpio:

You both yearn for, and fear, being emotionally vulnerable with others and experiencing deep emotional intimacy. Trusting others and letting yourself be known in a deep way doesn’t come easily to you, and sexual inhibitions may result from this. You are very self-protective and may be compulsively secretive. Learning to relinquish control in personal relationships, and to be completely open, are important tasks for you.

Saturn in 3rd house:

You are serious-minded and may have difficulty making light social conversation or participating in friendly, personal interchanges.

You try to be strictly accurate and are critical of people who exaggerate or talk on subjects they really know little about. You withhold your thoughts and opinions until you have thought everything through quite thoroughly, and sometimes your silence discomforts others.

Your mental concentration is very good but your breadth of understanding may not be.

Saturn Square Pluto:

Once you decide what you want to do, you will pursue it tenaciously and, if necessary, sacrifice a great deal for your deeply felt convictions. This trait tends to make you feel a little out of step with others. You take things a little more seriously and have an inclination to be a bit of a fanatic, although probably not flamboyantly so, so others may not know how deeply you feel and how driven you are about the things that are important to you. You have a deep inner resolve and are willing to struggle to do the things that are really meaningful to you, rather than follow an easier but less meaningful course in life.

Saturn Trine Uranus:

You have a talent and ability for putting fresh ideas and inspiration into practice. You are ready and willing to utilize new ideas and methods, and you have a knack for gaining acceptance for a new idea and practically implementing it.

Uranus in Cancer:

You are part of a 7 year group of people who have a strong need to feel unrestrained by family ties and personal heritage. Your age group tends to find personal relationships very restrictive, and also tends to feel alienated and distant from family ties and concerns. Forming long-term personal relationships is difficult for your age group, and divorce rates are high in your group. However, you are an emotional and sensitive group also, and this instability is painful at times. Finding personal freedom and closeness with others at the same time is a big challenge for you.

Uranus in 10th house:

You are likely to have a career that is highly unusual or that somehow challenges the mainstream of society and the status quo. Being an instrument for progressive change in the world is your role, whether in a humble or grand manner. You need to shake things up wherever you are. You also may change careers, life direction, and your long range goals many times in your life.

Uranus Square Neptune:

You were also born during a period that lasted approximately 5 years and is characterized by an unusually high degree of imagination and sensitivity. You are part of a group of people who are very inspired but also unstable. The bizarre and unusual are standard fare among your age group. Your generation also inspires intense political movements that are often fanatical or unreasonable in their goals.

Neptune in Libra:

You are part of a 14 year group of people who have a very idealistic sense of brotherhood and universal cooperation, which, among other things, fostered the peace and freedom movement. Your age group is also interested in the spiritual philosophy and ideals of other cultures, and is not at all dogmatic in its approach to religion. You incorporate the approaches of other religions. Your age group tends to have an eclectic approach to religion, utilizing elements from many religious perspectives (e.g. Eastern and Western), and finds it difficult to follow traditionally defined religious practices.

A gullibility and an unwillingness to be decisive and judgmental inclines your age group to be easily deceived, and consequently many of the well-intended ideals and goals are frustrated by a lack of clear purpose and direction.

Neptune in 2nd house:

You may have a great deal of confusion over money, financial matters, and ownership. Perhaps these things mean very little to you. Or possibly you simply don’t know how to deal with them in a realistic, effective way.

Also, you may make your living through artistic, musical, or highly imaginative endeavors.

Neptune Sextile Pluto:

The entire generation to which you belong has tremendous opportunities for spiritual rebirth and awakening. This will not be forced upon you or precipitated by unavoidable events, rather it comes from an inner yearning and a natural propensity to seek the depths.

Pluto in Leo:

You are part of a 20 year period that is often referred to as the “ME” generation, a generation that has a very proud and self-reliant attitude. You are a generation that is very concerned with self-development and personal integrity. Women’s rights and minority rights are issues that your generation has fostered and they reflect your concern with individual respect, integrity, and honor. Your age group has a deeply felt sense that each person has an equal right and opportunity to fully develop his or her inner potential.

However, your group also finds it difficult to be part of a team and a strong egotism makes group efforts difficult; you tend to see the individual as more important than the group. You also defy authority and often feel that no one has the right to tell you what to do. The strong movement to refuse drafting into the military is one example of your age group’s strong sense of individual rights and freedom.

Your age group has popularized the idea of self-development, and has contributed a great deal to the development of individual potential as well as human rights. However, there is also a tendency to be rather self-centered; others may wonder how you can spend so much time developing yourselves and have so little time to contribute to your families!

The interest in personal development also sometimes manifests as a fascination with particular individuals and a great deal of hero worship. Every generation, of course, has lots of idols, but your generation is particularly prone to needing a specific individual to represent and embody an idea or feeling, and to serve as a focal point of interest. Perhaps the most extreme example of this is the concept of the guru that was popularized by your age group.

Pluto in 12th house:

You have a deep interest in secrets, the underworld or unconscious, and anything hidden and mysterious. Psychoanalysis, investigating your dreams, and other methods of uncovering secrets are very interesting to you. You may be exceptionally perceptive intuitively or psychically. Your emotions and subconscious energies are complex, and periodic transformations and personal crises are sprinkled liberally throughout your lifetime.
